Think of PETG as the "athlete" of clear plastics. The glycol modification breaks up its molecular structure, giving it incredible flexibility and impact resistance. I need to sterilize my medical device component. Can PETG handle it??

Yes, but with a key distinction. PETG is an excellent choice for low-temperature sterilization methods like Gamma radiation and Ethylene Oxide (EtO) gas, which it withstands very well. However, it is not suitable for repeated steam autoclaving (high-pressure, high-temperature steam), as its heat deflection temperature (~70-75°C) is too low for this process. Always verify the specific sterilization cycle with your material supplier..

Absolutely. In its pure, unmodified form, PET (and by extension, PETG) is one of the most widely approved and trusted materials for direct food and beverage contact globally (e.g., FDA compliance).
