Q1: What is the exact difference between GPPS and HIPS sheets?
A: GPPS (General Purpose Polystyrene) is crystal clear, highly rigid, and extremely cost-effective, but it is inherently more brittle. It is the ideal choice for applications where optical visibility is paramount, such as display boxes or clear trays. HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) is opaque (usually white, black, or colored), significantly tougher, and offers higher impact resistance. HIPS is better suited for structural parts, appliance housings, or packaging that must withstand physical drops and rough handling.
Q2: Can GPPS sheets be used for food packaging?
A: Yes, food-grade GPPS is widely used for cold food packaging, such as fruit boxes, salad containers, and bakery displays, due to its exceptional clarity. However, GPPS has a lower heat resistance compared to PP or CPET. Therefore, it is strictly suitable for cold storage and room-temperature display, and must not be used for high-heat applications like microwaving or hot-filling.
Q3: What thickness do you recommend for thermoforming electronic trays?
A: For electronic blister packs and component trays, thicknesses between 0.5mm and 1.0mm are the industry standard. Thinner sheets (0.2mm - 0.5mm) are utilized for lightweight, low-profile components, while thicker sheets (1.0mm+) provide the necessary rigidity and protection for heavier or highly sensitive electronics. Our Matte Black GPPS film rolls are specifically optimized for these precise thermoforming requirements.
Q4: What is your standard packing method and lead time?
A: To ensure the sheets remain perfectly flat, clean, and undamaged during international shipping, our standard packing includes PE bags or PE wrapping film, reinforced with kraft paper, protective corners, and secured on sturdy wooden pallets. For standard sizes and specifications, our lead time is highly efficient—typically 7 to 10 days after receiving payment. Custom sizes (e.g., 3'x6' or 4'x8') and colors are also available upon request.
